Day 52

Good morning Friends
Woo hoo it's Friday! And the start of the weekend, the perfect opportunity to get caught up if you have fallen behind.
Barbara

Today's reading

How should we view "... he will bring justice to all nations" (Isaiah 42:1b) in the context of the 21st Century?

Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Turn to me and be saved,
all you ends of the earth;
for I am God, and there is no other.
Isaiah 45:22
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Absorb what you can, and don't worry about the rest. If at times you feel lost in Isaiah, rest assured others do, too.

Day 51

Good morning Friends
Woo hoo! It is a bit chilly this morning! Isn't it wonderful? If you don't think so, remember a few short weeks ago when it was HOT? Think on that and put on a sweater or not and enjoy! I love the key verse for today! It is a good reminder that God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow He NEVER changes. The Alpha and Omega, Beginning and the End.
Have a great day!
Barbara
Today's reading

God calls out hypocrites in Isaiah 29:13. Is he calling you out?

Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of our God stands forever.
Isaiah 40:8
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
God is trustworthy. He proves this time and again. Pay attention to the different outcomes that befall those who place their trust in God versus those who trust in alliances.

Day 50

Good morning Friends,
So excited to see all of you tonight! Can you say brisk? Do you love it?? Thank you Lord for a beautiful cool morning. Day 50 can you believe it? Forty days left of reading, stop and think of the instances in the Bible where forty days had significance and were life changing. Lord, we ask for a life changing expereince in the next 40 days.
Barbara
Today's reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 588-600 (Isaiah 14-28)
Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What is foretold by, "Aliens will join them and unite with the house of Jacob?" (Isaiah 14:1b)?

Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The LORD will have compassion on Jacob;
once again he will choose Israel
and will settle them in their own land.
Aliens will join them
and unite with the house of Jacob.
Isaiah 14:1
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The prophets were not just foretelling the future, but conduits through which God communicated to their audiences.

Day 49

Dear Friends,
Oh my gosh I am soooo sorry! In yesterday's busy-ness to get home I completely forgot to blog! My sincerest apologies!
Barbara
Today's reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 577-588 (Isaiah 1-13)
Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The prophet Isaiah was well liked at the beginning of his career, but not later. Are you willing to risk popularity for your faith?

Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hear, O heavens! Listen, O earth!
For the LORD has spoken:
"I reared children and brought them up,
but they have rebelled against me.
The ox knows his master,
the donkey his owner's manger,
but Israel does not know,
my people do not understand."
Isaiah 1:2-3
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some people LOVE the prophets; others struggle with them. If you are challenged during this stretch, recall the various helps we've offered over the course of our time; among them: 1) Listen While You Read and 2) breaking your reading sessions into several small chunks of time.

Encouragement
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"This book had to be written by one of three people: good men, bad men or God. It couldn't have been written by good men because they said it was inspired by the revelation of God. Good men don't lie and deceive. It couldn't have been written by bad men because bad men would not write something that would condemn themselves. It leaves only one conclusion. It was given by divine inspiration of God."
Day 48
Good morning Friends,
Hope you have a great week! I love today's quote by Daniel Webster. What would happen if the Bible was part of our education today? Would we live in a kinder gentler nation? Would there be less hate? Would people care for each other more and perhaps live by the Golden Rule? Remember when we learned that in school as well as Sunday School? Ok. . . sorry getting of my soapbox. Food for thought.
Barb
Today's reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 564-576 (Ecclesiastes 3 - Song of Songs)

Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What does Ecclessiastes 3:1-8 suggest to you about being prepared for life?
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As we read through the Bible, emotions like anger or frustration may surface. That's OK. Just keep reading. As you continue through, some questions will be answered, and new questions will arise. Never forget that -- through this experience -- you are growing in many ways, some of which will NEVER be made known to you.
Encouragement
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Education is useless without the Bible."

Daniel Webster

Resources + Community
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Consider your community in light of Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 above. What is it time for within your community? What can you do to encourage this? (No killing, dying or warring, please :)).
Barbara
Today's reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 552-564 (Proverbs 20 - Ecclesiastes 2)

Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Name something that you know you are foolish about (Proverbs 28:26). How can you change this?
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Even a child is known by his actions,
by whether his conduct is pure and right.
Proverbs 20:11

Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mark favorite portions with a check mark for later review.
Encouragement
Day 46
Good Morning Friends
Have a great! More pearls of wisdom today.
Barb
Today's reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 540-552 (Proverbs 7-19)

Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Which of today's proverbs resonates with you most? What about posting it on your mirror or fridge?
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is a way that seems right to a man,
but in the end it leads to death.
Proverbs 14:12

Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Like Psalms, Proverbs is enjoyed best in small portions, so consider breaking today's reading into several sittings.
2. We've officially crossed the halfway mark. Congratulations!
Encouragement
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Day 45

Good morning Friends,
Woo hoo! I'm going to see my grandbabies for the weekend today! My grandson's birthday party is tomorrow! I will still be posting here the times maybe a little irratic. We enter Proverbs today. There is a lot of wisdom in this book! Watch for the nuggets that touch you.
Barb
Today's reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 528-540 (Psalms 135 - Proverbs 6)
Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today, why do you need to "trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding?" (Prov 3:5)

Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Above all else guard your heart,
for it is the wellspring of life.
Proverbs 4:23
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Remember that God is revealing Himself to us as we read.

Encouragement
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Although we've had many bible studies looking at many books very closely, we've never before had a study that works through the whole Bible. So, we have folks who know Hebrews well, or the letter to the Romans, or maybe Ezekiel. But, to put it all together, well that's something that very few Episcopalians can do. So, this was our first offering where we read through the whole Bible. It was just dynamic for the church."
Bill Dickson, Associate Rector, St. John the Divine Episcopal Church
Resources + Community
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As you consider Proverbs 3:5 (see above), is there someone in your community that you feel led to reach out to? Are you willing to "trust in the Lord" and reach out?

Day 44

Good morning Friends
Woo hoo! We are at the halfway point! Can you believe it? You are all awesome for sticking with this journey! I am so proud of all of you!
I'm so sorry for not being there last night but my throat was too sore and I didn't want to spread my germs. Have a great week!
Barb
Today's reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 516-528 (Psalms 108-134)
Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At this halfway point, write your own "Ode to Scripture" such as might be found in Psalm 119.

Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you.
Psalm 119:11
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Bible tells us that "All Scripture is God-breathed...", that is, inspired by God. Many of the Psalms praise God lavishly. Is this a model that we are supposed to follow?

Encouragement
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I prefer to believe those writers who get their throats cut for what they write."
Blaise Pascal
Day 43
Good morning Friends,
Another one my favorite Psalms today. Whenever I'm feeling afraid, especially at night, I read this Psalm. My memorizer doesn't work so good anymore so I have a few lines from this passage that I say to myself. I am a bit under the weather this morning with a sore throat and cough but there will be class tonight!
Barb
Today's reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 504-516 (Psalms 89-107)

Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Find your favorite concept in Psalm 103:8-18 and tell why you like it.
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Psalm 100:1-2

Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Psalms runs the gamut of human emotion. If we feel a bit uncomfortable with some of the sentiments, perhaps we're learning something new.
Encouragement
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ."

St. Jerome

Pages 492-504 (Psalms 69-88)

Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Are you finding yourself singing a song based on a Psalm? Worship today by linking us to a Psalm-based song.
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God,
slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
Psalm 86:15

Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Read your daily Psalms quota in several sittings. Use a sticky note to keep your place.
Day 41
Good morning Friends,
Today part of our reading includes Psalm 51. Psalm 51 was written after the Bathsheba incident and is a "model" prayer of asking for forgivness and showing repentance. Have a great day!
Barb
Today's reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 480-492 (Psalms 45-68)

Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What teaching about sin in Psalm 51 do Christians need to understand better?
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Too many to pick just one :))

Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Psalms were actually meant to be sung, so why not pick one to at least read aloud? Or, feel free to sing it to a favorite tune! Results will vary.
Encouragement
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"I am busily engaged in the study of the Bible. I believe it is God's word because it finds me where I am."

Abraham Lincoln

Day 40

Happy Lord's Day!
Remember how we were supposed to look for patterns with the kings? Have you ever noticed numbers in the Bible? No not the book, haha, today is our 40th day; it rained for 40 days and nights during the flood of Noah's time and Jesus spent 40 days in the desert. Just a thought to share do not get distracted looking for number patterns. Have a blessed Sunday my friends.
Barb
Today's reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 468-480 (Psalms 25-44)
Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When have you experienced one of the ways God cares for you found in Psalm 34?

Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Blessed is he who has regard for the weak;
the LORD delivers him in times of trouble.
Psalms 41:1
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Psalms often reflect back on events that were reported in books previously read. For our current purposes, don't worry too much about matching up to specific events, just glean what you can without studying or referring to other parts of the Bible.

Encouragement
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"There is a book worth all other books which were ever printed."
Day 39
Good morning Friends,
We enter Psalms today, one of my favorite books to read. David's writings speak to my soul and have given me comfort at the darkest of times. There are many precious nuggets within this book. I pray that you find some just for you. Have a great day!
Barb
Today's reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 456-468 (Job 42 - Psalm 24)

Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Find a life lesson in Psalm 1 and explain it.
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(The are too too many from which to pick!)

Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some people find it particularly jarring to journey through Psalms at a 12-page-a-day rate. As mentioned previously, breaking the reading into several readings throughout the day can help immensely.
Encouragement
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Within the covers of the Bible are the answers for all the problems men face."

Barb
Today's reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 444-456 (Job 25-41)
Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What's one thing God says of himself that you never thought of before? (Job 38-41)

Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Everything under heaven belongs to me." Job 41:11b
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For many of us, Job is a good time to practice reading in small chunks. Try reading just a page or a two at a time, and use a sticky note to mark your place. If you like this while reading Job, continue reading this way in Psalms and Proverbs.

Encouragement
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today's reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 432-444 (Job 7-24)

Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What are some of the worst things to say to someone who's suffering? (Job 1-23)
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Surely God does not reject a blameless man
or strengthen the hands of evildoers.
He will yet fill your mouth with laughter
and your lips with shouts of joy.
Your enemies will be clothed in shame,
and the tents of the wicked will be no more."
Job 8:20-22

Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When reading Job in particular, it is important to remember: absorb what you can and don't worry about the rest.
Encouragement
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Once I started reading, it was so exciting to keep going that I didn't feel like I was giving anything up. I was gaining so much more by doing the reading."

Today's reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 420-432 (Nehemiah 13 - Job 6)
Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What's your favorite moment in the Esther story and why? (Esther 1-10)

Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Esther's words were reported to Mordecai, he sent back this answer: "Do not think that because you are in the king's house you alone of all the Jews will escape. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?"
Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: "Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish."
Esther 4:12-16
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some portions of what we are reading appeal to certain individuals more than others. Don't expect to "enjoy" all of the Bible equally.

Encouragement
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I must say that this was quite the challenge. First of all, I am NOT a reader. I do NOT like to read much at all.
"However, I started to read on March 4, 2007. I just finished reading the Bible in 52 days. The question that everyone asks is, 'Did you retain anything you read?' I have to say, 'Yes, I did.' This was a book I just could not put down. I would recommend this program to anyone."
Good morning Friends,
Barb
Today's reading (yesterday's)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 396-408 (2 Chronicles 35 - Ezra 10)

Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What difficulties did the Jews experience during rebuilding, and how does that remind you of your experiences? (Ezra 1-9)
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the LORD:
"He is good; his love to Israel endures forever."
And all the people gave a great shout of praise to the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid. Ezra 3:11

Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What place does Nehemiah's prayer life play in his leadership?
(Nehemiah 1:5-11; 2: 4; 4:4)
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nehemiah said, "Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength." Nehemiah 8:10

Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Be sure not to skip ahead in your reading, even if you intend to come back and "fill in" later. An important component of this experience is that we read all of the Bible from cover to cover.
Encouragement
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hezekiah... did right in the eyes of the Lord, just as his father David had done.
2 Chronicles 29:1-2
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1 and 2 Chronicles recount previously reported events from a somewhat different perspective, aimed at a different audience. Among other things, this sets us up for the Gospels of the New Testament, which offer four different perspectives of the sames events, written to four different audiences.

Encouragement
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"About 5 to 7 percent of people who set out to read through the Bible on their own actually accomplish that goal, according to most studies. But in Waterville, the success rate of a just-completed "Bible in 90 Days" was well over 70 percent."
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As for us, the Lord is our God, and we have not forsaken him. 2 Chronicles 13:10a

What are some things David says to Solomon that you would want to say to your son before you die? (1 Chronicles 28:8-21)

Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The LORD highly exalted Solomon in the sight of all Israel and bestowed on him royal splendor such as no king over Israel ever had before.1 Chronicles 29:25
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As we said at the beginning of the reading, we may find some parts of the Bible less entertaining than others. In fact, one stretch of today's reading has been judged to be "the least favorite verses in the Bible" by one website. Can you guess which verses?

We should remember, of course, that being entertaining is NOT the foremost goal of the Author.

Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name;
make known among the nations what he has done.
1 Chronicles 16:8

Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are a third of the way through the Bible, or two-thirds of the way to the halfway point. Celebrate a bit with your peers, and say a prayer of thanks. If you are a little behind, focus on this milestone as encouragement to catch up.
Have you prayed Jabez's prayer? With what results? (1 Chronicles 4:9-10)
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, "I gave birth to him in pain." Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, "Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain." And God granted his request.
1 Chronicles 4:9-10

Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Repetition plays an important role in the Bible. Distinctions do too. As you spend time in 1 & 2 Chronicles, see if you can distinguish ways in which the reporting differs from that in earlier reporting of the same events and people.
