Pages 852-864 (Mark 9 - Luke 1)
Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jesus says, "Everything is possible for him who believes." (Mark 9:23b) What should you believe that you are NOT?
Key passage
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."
Mark 10:14b-15
Reminder

The four Gospels offer eyewitness accounts of Christ's ministry from four different perspectives, yet both the similarities and distinctions in the accounts come together to form a consistent portrait.

Family Bible, by Willie Nelson
There's a family Bible on the table
Each page is torn and hard to read
But the family Bible on the table
Will ever be my key to memories
At the end of day when work was over
And when the evening meal was done
Dad would read to us from the family Bible
And we'd count our many blessings one by one
I can see us sittin' round the table
When from the family Bible dad would read
I can hear my mother softly singing rock of ages Rock of ages cleft for me
Now this old world of ours is full of trouble
This old world would also better be
If we'd find more Bibles on the tables
And mothers singing rock of ages cleft for me
I can see us sittin' round the table
When from the family Bible dad would read
I can hear my mother softly singing rock of ages
Rock of ages rock of ages cleft for me.

Day 70
Good morning Friends,
30 more days. It has occured to me that on our last meeting we will not have finished our readings. Hopefully tonight I will have an answer on how to address that issue. I would love to know the context of Queen Elizabeth's quote below.
Have a blessed day.

Good morning Friends
Brrrrrrrr!!! Loving it! Thank you Lord that I've been needing a blanket! Interesting quote by Theodore Roosevelt today - typo is not mine. And oh that his quote was true of today's "man"
Barb
Today's reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 816-828 (Matthew 5 - 15)
Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As your continue your reading, view the NT with new eyes. See if Christ doesn't actually "up the ante." (e.g. Matthew 5:21-22)
Key passage
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.' But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca,' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell."
Matthew 5:21-22
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The NT is serious stuff, as illustrated above. It is NOT all about GRACE, as we sometimes come to believe from the popular verses we may encounter frequently in various venues. At the same time, we've just seen that the OT is littered with GRACE. Isn't it something to see the "whole story" come more into focus?
Encouragement

Malachi reminds of us rampant human failure reflected throughout the Old Testament. Why are we worthy of the gift we'll come to know in the New Testament?
Key passage
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.
Matthew 1:21
Reminder
One important reason for reading is so we'll know "the whole story." You have not strengthened the weak or healed the sick or bound up the injured. You have not brought back the strays or searched for the lost. You have ruled them harshly and brutally. So they were scattered because there was no shepherd, and when they were scattered they became food for all the wild animals. My sheep wandered over all the mountains and on every high hill. By now, when you don't understand something on this journey, you have probably learned to read on anyway: either your question will be answered, or you'll move to an even bigger question. That doesn't mean you can't jot down Big Questions for Future Study. If you are using The Bible in 90 Days Participant's Guide, turn to page 138.
Pages 696-708 (Lamentations 2 - Ezekiel 11)
Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"It is good for man to bear the yoke..." (Lamentations 3:27a). What yoke do you currently bear?
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You, O LORD, reign forever;
your throne endures from generation to generation.
Lamentations 5:19
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One yoke we all bear right now is our commitment to read all of God's Word.If you are struggling, put the burden on Him by praying for the time, patience, focus and/or anything else you need to keep this commitment. Ask and it will be given.

Good morning Friends,
Have a great day! Woo hoo the start of the weekend!
Barb
Today's reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 684-696 (Jeremiah 48 - Lamentations 1)
Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How does the fall of Jerusalem (Lamentations 1) compare to the original fall?
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How deserted lies the city,
once so full of people!
How like a widow is she,
who once was great among the nations!
She who was queen among the provinces
has now become a slave.
Lamentations 1:1
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The phrase "there but for the grace of God go I" is a good one to remember as we read the books of the prophets and Lamentations. Viewed from God's holy perspective, our approach to life is no better than the lives depicted in these books. Notice, too, though, the grace and hope throughout.

* Are there people you know who have suffered great loss and never fully recovered?
* Do they know God's Word?
* Should you add them to the list of people with whom you might share The Bible in 90 Days experience?

Barbara
Today's reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 577-588 (Isaiah 1-13)
Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The prophet Isaiah was well liked at the beginning of his career, but not later. Are you willing to risk popularity for your faith?
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hear, O heavens! Listen, O earth!
For the LORD has spoken:
"I reared children and brought them up,
but they have rebelled against me.
The ox knows his master,
the donkey his owner's manger,
but Israel does not know,
my people do not understand."
Isaiah 1:2-3
Reminder
Good men don't lie and deceive. It couldn't have been written by bad men because bad men would not write something that would condemn themselves. It leaves only one conclusion. It was given by divine inspiration of God."
Day 48
Good morning Friends,
Hope you have a great week! I love today's quote by Daniel Webster. What would happen if the Bible was part of our education today? Would we live in a kinder gentler nation? Would there be less hate? Would people care for each other more and perhaps live by the Golden Rule? Remember when we learned that in school as well as Sunday School? Ok. . . sorry getting of my soapbox. Food for thought.
Barb
Today's reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 564-576 (Ecclesiastes 3 - Song of Songs)
Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What does Ecclessiastes 3:1-8 suggest to you about being prepared for life?
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As we read through the Bible, emotions like anger or frustration may surface. That's OK. Just keep reading. As you continue through, some questions will be answered, and new questions will arise. Never forget that -- through this experience -- you are growing in many ways, some of which will NEVER be made known to you.
Today, why do you need to "trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding?" (Prov 3:5)
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Above all else guard your heart,

At this halfway point, write your own "Ode to Scripture" such as might be found in Psalm 119.
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you.
Psalm 119:11
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Bible tells us that "All Scripture is God-breathed...", that is, inspired by God. Many of the Psalms praise God lavishly. Is this a model that we are supposed to follow?

Day 43
Good morning Friends,
Another one my favorite Psalms today. Whenever I'm feeling afraid, especially at night, I read this Psalm. My memorizer doesn't work so good anymore so I have a few lines from this passage that I say to myself. I am a bit under the weather this morning with a sore throat and cough but there will be class tonight!

Day 40
Happy Lord's Day!
Remember how we were supposed to look for patterns with the kings? Have you ever noticed numbers in the Bible? No not the book, haha, today is our 40th day; it rained for 40 days and nights during the flood of Noah's time and Jesus spent 40 days in the desert. Just a thought to share do not get distracted looking for number patterns. Have a blessed Sunday my friends.

For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?"
Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: "Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish."

Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name;
make known among the nations what he has done.
1 Chronicles 16:8

But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."1 Samuel 16:7
Reminder

As we finish our third week of reading, remember to read ATTENTIVELY, even sections that may seem repetitive. Why is there repetition in the Bible? What does this say about us?
Encouragement

"There has probably never been a time in human history when the Word of God has been more accessible yet more unread." We're living in a time of superficial Christianity on the part of many people, and the postmodern culture has invited persons to be on a spiritual quest of their own devising rather than to follow the path of biblical Christianity. Millions and millions of people have only some vague concept about the Bible. They know it's about God, and some know it's about Christ, but beyond that, they have no real understanding of what the Bible is and how they are to obey it and know it."

Samson confides in you that he has trouble with women but doesn't understand why. What would you tell him? (Judges 13-16)
Bonus Question: A ton of life lessons in the book of Ruth. What's yours?

But Ruth replied, "Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me."Ruth 1:16-17

There are 3500 names in the Bible. Don't worry about remembering the names of each of the judges. Three or four may stick with you. Mainly pay attention to the repeating cycle, and what it means about our relationship with God.

Day 17
Good morning Friends!
Woo hoo! The weekend is here! If you are an early morning person have you thought of having your morning coffee or tea outside while reading your Bible and watching the day unfold with the Lord? Early mornings here in the desert or so quiet and you can watch the mountains change colors and marvel at God's paintbox. Weekends are a great time to catch up if you're behind.
Barb
Today's reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 192-204 (Joshua 15 - Judges 3)
Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What do you notice that caused Israel to plummet into rebellion so quickly? (Judges 2:6-15)
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD. Joshua 24:15
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
God gives us free will, which we exercise continuously, often in ways that don't honor God. That's ONE of the reasons that persevering through the bumpy parts of this journey are so important. We honor God by keeping our commitment to him, when we can freely choose to do otherwise.

Today's reading
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pages 180-192 (Joshua 1-14)
Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When, if ever, is it okay to lie? (Joshua 2:5)
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you are caught up in your reading, keep up the good work! If you are a little bit behind, add a page or two a day to your routine, until you have caught up.
More than a few pages behind? Set aside a block of time -- say on this Sunday -- to catch up. You'll be surprised at the impact it will have, even reading large quantities of text in one or more sittings.
Do NOT skip... for any reason. By definition, at the end you won't have read from cover to cover. Trust us, you'll want to have done this. Even if you are behind for the rest of the program and have to finish in more than 90 days, keep reading. Every word. From cover to cover. You'll be glad you did.
Encouragement
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
God does not ask about our ability or inability, rather about our availability.
You're Moses, standing on Mount Nebo and gazing at the Promised Land. What are you thinking? (Deuteronomy 34:1-8)
Key verse
"For years, I've been looking for a way to read the bible in its entirety without it becoming overwhelming. I love the way this book is set out with markers at the beginning and end of each day's reading; stopping, or continuing to what I feel is the logical end, is very simple. The hardcover means I will have it for a long time. Its size makes it easy to carry around, so I can read a few pages whenever I have time. My only wish is for a ribbon bookmark to make it easier to find where I left off, but hey, I need to something for myself. After all, everything else has been organised for me, including a prayer to help center me before I begin to read..."
Whether you are breezing along with your reading or struggling a bit, you may benefit from the Listen While You Read section on our ministry website. Having the Scriptures read to you while you follow along in the Bible is a rich multi-sensory experience. For those of us who are slow readers -- or tend to backtrack when reading -- it also helps us maintain a steady pace.
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. Gen 32:24
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Try reading at different times of the day and night to see what works best for you. Some people split their reading into two or three sittings.
Encouragement
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I was TOTALLY blown away by the enthusiasm of our small group (25 people) who have taken the challenge of reading the Bible from cover to cover in 90 days.
"Personally, I have read the Bible through several times. BUT, I find myself waking up earlier than the alarm to read. I have stopped watching the news at 10pm and read the Bible instead. I have been a Christian for over 40 years and have never been more excited to read the Bible than I am today."

Day 2
Good morning new friends! Remember our freedom comes at a high price, especially on this rememberance day. I was going to blog last night about yesterday's reading but my internet went down. I will try to post something here tonight about today's reading. Have a great day!
Here is today's encouragement for you:

Day 1
Good morning! Have a great day!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The great philosopher Yogi Berra tells us, "If you don't know where you're going, then you'll wind up someplace else." So, let's remember where we are going: straight through the Bible, from cover to cover.
Many people will tell you this can't be done. Most of these naysayers are well meaning:
· Family members
· Friends or co-workers
· A church leader or several
You see, MOST CHRISTIANS have never taken this journey, even though MOST want to. Those who have - and as we continue our mission that number is growing -- tell us things like:
I can't believe I read the whole thing!
This has led me much closer to Him.
Why haven't we always done it this way?
Now the Bible is mine.
For the first time, I have an idea of how the whole story fits together.
I see the B I G picture.
Now I'm ready for deeper study.
Enjoy this special journey. It will be a challenge, but a worthwhile one. When people ask you what you are reading this summer, you can tell them,
"Something that is changing my life."
Today's reading
Pages 1-12 (Gen 1-16)
Something to ponder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What was Eve's real sin? (Gen 3:1-13)
Key verse
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them. Gen 1:27
Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your mission is to "read ATTENTIVELY every word of the Bible in 90 days." All of the resources are aimed at assisting you in doing this. Stay focused on this mission and expect a transforming journey.
Encouragement

"This simple God inspired plan has brought our community together and blessed our church. I am now on my third time through the Bible and it gets better ever time!"

Session 1 - Wednesday 09/09/09
I hope you enjoyed tonight's group and look forward to seeing you next week. I'd like to leave you with a prayer to encourage you as you embark on this incredible journey.
Father God,
Thank you for these precious new friends. Thank you for their thirst to read Your Word from cover to cover. Lord, I pray that you will give them the perseverance to read each daily portion. Father, that you would protect the time that they set aside to read daily. Protect it from interruptions and busyness. Open their hearts Father that as they read they would see how Your Word leads us to Your Son Jesus. Thank you Lord for hearing our prayers.
In Jesus Name
AMEN
